Facebook are putting a higher priority on our social interactions with people we care about & basically focusing on sociability. This means less product, media, business based posts will show up in your newsfeed. Facebook algorithm will favor content that simulates conversation & interactions (comments, shares, reactions).
Zuckerberg says that “Since there's more public content than posts from your friends and family, the balance of what's in News Feed has shifted away from the most important thing Facebook can do -- help us connect with each other.”
So ok I can hear you saying ‘what does this mean for your business Facebook page, will I be able to reach my audience?’.
Yes, Facebook will show less posts from publishers or businesses. Yes, we do expect reach to drop from business pages. But we need to remember that Facebook is a social platform. And now with these changes, all it means is that we need to be even more strategic about what content we post & the messages we are communicating with our audience and intentional about the amount we share.
Zuckerberg explains, “Facebook has always been about personal connections. By focusing on bringing people closer together”
